Course Content of the PADI Rescue Diver Course

In the PADI Rescue Diver Course, you will learn how to prevent diving accidents and how to respond effectively in critical situations. Often, you can prevent problems above, in, and below the water through proactive measures and by recognizing potential hazards.

As a sport diver, you will learn how to handle the signs and causes of stress. The course also covers potential issues related to diving equipment and areas of diving medicine. You will practice the necessary skills to rescue a diver at the surface and underwater, as well as how to transport them on land and provide necessary first aid.

As a PADI Rescue Diver, you will be able to plan and execute a well-organized rescue chain from the first call for help to the arrival of professional rescue personnel.

Learning Objectives:

The course lasts 4 days and includes 8 dives with various exercises. It prepares you to recognize and ideally avoid both minor and serious diving emergencies. You will learn to identify stress in other divers and how to rescue panicked or unconscious divers. Various scenarios will teach you what to look for and how to respond in different situations. You will learn how to manage diving accident scenarios and follow rescue procedures.

During the course, you will use standard diving equipment as well as a pocket mask to practice resuscitation in the water. You will also work with an oxygen unit, buoyancy devices, marker buoys, and a resuscitation mannequin during the exercises. Your confidence will grow, and your advanced skills will make you a better dive buddy.

Course Requirements:

• Minimum age: 15 years
• Completed first aid course within the last 24 months
• Sufficient swimming skills
• Good physical condition
